WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT EAST SIDE BLUES
'On twelve terrific tracks ... Laurie McVay croons his way to soul blues paradise. This is where listeners will be, even at the start. There's not one bad or mediocre song on here. Laurie captures the essence of his brand of blues in a smooth, almost effortless manner ... Can We Leave It Until the Morning? is smooth and vocally brilliant' (Rainey Wetnight, Blues Blast Magazine).
'Laurie McVay is a singer, harmonica and guitar player who feels passionate about blues and soul in equal parts. Influenced by artists like Little Milton, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Fenton Robinson, Little Walter, Magic Sam and Nina Simone, Laurie McVay is efficiently backed by his regular band, The High Rollers ... All the songs included become a tribute to all those legendary pre-war and post-war bluesmen but also show the excellent vocal and instrumental skills of this more than interesting artist called Laurie McVay. GREAT' (La Hora del Blues).
'Laurie's songwriting is excellent [and] he gets plenty of emotion into his songs. Leave My Dreams Alone is beautifully sung' (Adrian Blacklee, Blues Matters).
ABOUT LAURIE MCVAY
Laurie McVay is a blues singer/songwriter/harp player/guitarist from the South of England. He has spent the best part of his life so far trying to develop his own style of blues. This has led him to perform hundreds of gigs up and down the U.K (and elsewhere) and to record two albums: My Kind of Blues (2014) and East Side Blues (2019). He terms his songs 'little stories from life' and his songwriting is unusually melodic - and uncommonly soulful.
